Calendar for the 2011-2012 School Year

First Thursday of each month school closes at 12:45 PM for Staff Professional Growth.

September 6 Back to School Night, 6 – 7:00 p.m.
This mandatory meeting will offer valuable information to all our parents. The meeting will consist of a short overview of the program and policies, the parent handbook, and important school events. Parents will be invited to meet in their child’s classroom for a short, informative meeting with their child’s teacher. Only adults may attend Back to School Night.

September 8, 9 Before School Conferences
This will be a time for each child and family to meet the teacher and become acquainted with the classroom and program. This is also a time for families to share with the teacher any information or concerns they may have about their child at school. Conferences last 20 – 30 minutes per family.

September 12, 13 First Days of School, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
NO MORNING CARE BOTH DAYS
Aftercare available for preschool children both days, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Morning Care for preschool children begins September 14th, 8 – 9 a.m.

September 26, 27 Playball begins, 1:15 – 2:00 p.m. (10 week session)

October 5 Parent Group Meeting, 7 p.m. at Michelle W’s home

October 3 – 13 Costume Swap

October 11 Parent Cooking Day, 9 a.m.

October 11 Humane Society visits

October 11 Family Ice Cream Social + Open House, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Families are invited to an Ice Cream Social put on by the College Park Preschool Parent Group. Families visit the classrooms and art studio.

October 25, 26 Grandma Marilyn visits the preschool classes and reads a story about God’s love

October 26 Parent Cooking Day, 9 AM

October 27, 28 Imagination Costume Parades, 9:00 – 9:20 a.m.
Children and teachers come to school dressed in costume. Parents are welcome to dress up too! Children meet in their room at 9 AM sharp for pictures. Then the parade begins and the classes walk around the bike path to music. Children may wear their costume for the day. Special snacks are shared that day.

November 14 Parent Group Presentation “How traveling with my kids helpedme live a heroic life” with Gretchen, alumni parent of CPP, 9:15 to 10 a.m.

November 17, 18 Annual Thanksgiving Feasts, 11 a.m. – 12 noon
Room 4 and 5 enjoy a Thanksgiving Feast in Faith Family Center. Parents bring a dish to share and enjoy each other’s company as well as the children’s. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings are invited.

November 30 Parent Cooking Day, 9 a.m.
December 16 Teacher Fellowship, School closes at 12:00 p.m. (NO AFTERCARE)

January 10 Parent Cooking Day, 9 a.m.

January 10, 11 Dad’s Night, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
All our dads are invited to a fun-filled evening with their child in their child’s class. Activities are planned as well as art and circle time for the dads and children.

January 25 Parent Cooking Day, 9 a.m.

February 3 The Royal Ball, 5:30 to 7:30 PM
All our families come dressed for a Royal Ball in Faith Center. Dinner, Dancing to a DJ, and a Photo Booth are the highlights of the evening.

February 8th and 9th
A police officer visits each of the classrooms and shares about traffic safety. Classes then go outside and see the lights, hear the siren, and sit in the back of her police car.

February 21, 22 Picture Days
Northlight Studios takes pictures of each of the classes and individual portraits of the children during the day

March 1 – 15 2012-13 Registration for returning families
Children who are currently enrolled at College Park Preschool are given first priority for the coming school year. Families may keep their M-W-F, T-Th, or five day spot for their child by filling out a registration card and returning it to the preschool office with the non-refundable registration fee by March 16th. Families wishing to change or add days for the coming year may turn in their registration card and fee indicating what days they would like and will be placed using the waiting list. Siblings may also be enrolled at this time.

March 8, 9 Teacher-Parent Conferences, School Closed
Teachers meet with parents and discuss each child’s developmental progress. Conferences last from 20 – 30 minutes.

March 13 Grandma Marilyn reads to the classes

March 16 Staff Professional Growth Day, School Closed
Staff participate in CAEYC convention in San Diego or visit local Reggio-inspired schools and meet afterward to share what they have learned.

March 19 2012-13 Registration for alumni and new families begins
Registration for church, alumni, and new families begins using the waiting list. A registration card and fee is required to hold a spot for the coming year. All forms for the child’s folder are required within the month.

March 28 Grandma Marilyn reads to the classes

April 9, 10 Elks Vision Screening
Free Elks Vision Screening available for children 3 years and older with parent permission. The goal of the program to significantly decrease the number of children at risk for amblyopia (“lazy eye”) and other vision problems.

April 16 Summer Fun Sign-ups begin on April 16th
Sign-ups begin on April 16th for currently enrolled families and April 23rd for families enrolled for the 2012-13 school year. The sign-up form and full tuition is due when signing up for Summer Fun. These classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

April 26, 27 Potluck Luncheons and Parent Fundraiser, 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Children’s Singing Program, 11:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
All our families are invited to our annual Parent Potluck Luncheons. Parents bring a dish to share and enjoy each other’s company as well as the children’s songs of spring. Theme baskets are raffled off and funds are used for the preschool.

May 6 Sunday CPPPG Fundraiser at Mountain Mikes

May 10, 11 Mom’s Mornings, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
All our moms are invited to a fun-filled evening with their child in their child’s class. Activities are planned as well as art and circle time for the moms and children

May 29, 30 11:15 a.m. – 12 noon “Zooprize” Animal Show
Each 45 minute program is educational and entertaining! Animals come to school in cages wrapped up like presents. The animal comes out of the packages once the children guess what the animal is using clues and rhymes. Each program shares 5 animals that children usually don’t get to see up close and personal.

June 2, 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. Saturday CPPPG Breakfast
Families are invited to our annual Pancake or Waffle Breakfast put on by the College Park Preschool Parent Group. The playground is set up with tables and decorations and families enjoy a delicious breakfast.

June 6, 7 Last Days of School,
Classroom End of Year Celebrations, 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
School closes at 12 noon (NO AFTERCARE)
Families are invited to be a part of special parties and celebrations the last 30 minutes of the day in each of the classrooms. June aftercare is due on the last day of school. A table is set up outside Mrs. Oliver’s office with fee statements. Please pay by check.

*July 4 Independence Day, school closed

July 3 – 26 Summer Fun: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 9:00 a.m. – 12 or 1 p.m.
Summer Fun is a four week program in July and is held each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1 p.m. Children who are 3 – 6 years by September 1st, 2012 and toilet-learned may register. Sign-ups begin on April 16th for currently enrolled families and April 23rd for families enrolled for the 2012-13 school year. The sign-up form and full tuition is due when signing up for Summer Fun. These classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
