FIRST WEDNESDAY of each month:

School closes at 1 PM!

Parent Group Meetings:  October 7th at 7pm,  November 4th at 9:15,  December 2nd at 7pm,  January 6th at 9:15,  February 3rd at 7pm,  March 3rd at 9:15,  April 7th at 7pm,  May 5th at 9:15 am, June 2 at 7 pm

 

September 8                      Back to School Night, 6 – 7:00 p.m.    

This mandatory meeting will offer valuable information to all our parents.  The meeting will consist of a short overview of the program and policies, the parent handbook, and important school events. Parents will be invited to meet in their child’s classroom for a short, informative meeting with their child’s teacher.  ONLY ADULTS  may attend Back to School Night.                                         

                                         

September  8,   9               Before School Conferences

Each child and family meet the teacher and become acquainted with the classroom and program.  This is a time for families to share with the teacher any information or concerns they may have about their child at school.  Conferences last 20 – 30 minutes per family.

                                                      

September 10, 11              First Days of School, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

                                           NO MORNING CARE BOTH DAYS

                                           Parent Welcome and Orientations, 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.

Parent Welcome and Orientations are held in Faith Family Center.  This is an informal get together where parents meet each other, ask questions, and share ideas. 

                                            Aftercare for preschool children both days, 12:00 – 3 p.m.

                                            Morning Care for preschoolers begins Sept. 14th

 

September 14                     First Parent Group Meeting

All of our parents are invited to the first Parent Meeting in Faith Family Center.  This will be a time when parents can find out how to be a part of College Park Preschool in a variety of ways.  Meetings are held monthly and everyone is invited!

 

September 21, 22               Playball begins

Playball is offered to preschool children Mondays or Tuesdays, 1:20 – 2:05 p.m. in Faith Family Center.  This program is offered onsite but is not part of College Park Preschool.  There is a fee to attend the class.  Aftercare is still charged while children attend Playball classes.  Staff is available to help the Playball instructor during the class.

                                         

October 7                           School closes at 1 p.m. for an ALL STAFF MEETING

Please pick your child up by 12:55 p.m. Late fees apply if children at not picked up by 1 p.m.  The staff meets monthly for professional growth training.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  Spaghetti Social date change from Oct. 13 to Oct. 28

 

October 28                          Family Spaghetti Social, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  

Families and friends are invited to a delicious spaghetti dinner put on by the College Park Preschool Parent Group. 

 

October 29, 30                    Imagination Costume Parades, 9:00 – 9:20 a.m. 

Children and teachers come to school dressed in costume. Parents are welcome to dress up too! Children meet in their room at 9 AM sharp for pictures.  Then the parade begins and the classes walk around the bike path to music. Children may wear their costume for the day.  Special snacks are shared that day.

 

November TBA                     Grandma Joan returns

Grandma Joan visits each of the preschool classes and reads stories of God’s love, once for the Tuesday-Thursday classes and once for the Monday-Wednesday-Friday classes.

 

November 4                        School closes at 1 p.m.

November 6                        Staff Professional Growth Day, School Closed

Staff visit local Reggio-inspired schools and meet afterward to share what they have learned.

 

*November 11                     Veteran’s Day Holiday, School closed

 

November 16, 17                Open House and Children’s Program, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Families visit the classrooms from 6 to 6:30 p.m.  At 6:30 p.m., families go to the church sanctuary for a singing program put on by the children.

 

*November 23 - 27              Thanksgiving Holiday Vacation

 

December 2                         School closes at 1 p.m.

December  7 - 11                Holiday Workshop in the Art Studio, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.   

The Art Studio will be turned into a Santa’s Workshop for the week.  Children may choose to make one or a number of ornaments and wrap them for the holidays. 

 

December 18                      Teacher Fellowship, School closes at 12:00 p.m.

January TBA                       Firefighter visits and Police officer visits

All the classes meet outside when Fire Station #10 visits the school.  They bring their fire truck and share with the children about fire safety.  A police officer visits each of the classrooms and shares about traffic safety.  Classes then go outside and see the lights, hear the siren, and sit in the back of her police car.

 

January 6                             School closes at 1 p.m.

January 11, 12                     Dad’s Night, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

All our dads are invited to a fun-filled evening with their child in their child’s class.  Activities are planned as well as art and circle time for the dads and children. 

 

*January 18                        Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, school closed

 

February 3                           School closes at 1 p.m.

February 8, 9                       Picture Days

Northlight Studios takes pictures of each class and individual portraits of the children.

 

February 10, 11                   Valentine’s Day Exchanges

The children make valentines and also bring valentines to exchange with their friends

 

*February 12                       Abraham Lincoln’s Holiday, school closed

 

*February  15                      President’s Day Holiday, school closed

 

March 3                               School closes at 1 p.m.

March 15, 16                      Teacher-Parent Conferences, School Closed

Teachers meet with parents and discuss each child’s developmental progress.  Conferences last from 20 – 30 minutes. 

 

March 1 – 19                     2010-11 Registration for returning families

Children who are currently enrolled at College Park Preschool are given first priority for the coming school year.  Families may keep their M-W-F, T-Th, or five day spot for their child by filling out a registration card and returning it to the preschool office with the non-refundable registration fee by March 20th.  Families wishing to change or add days for the coming year may turn in their registration card and fee indicating what days they would like and will be placed using the waiting list.   Siblings may also be enrolled at this time. 

 

March 22                           2010-11 Registration for alumni and new families begins

Registration for church, alumni, and new families begins using the waiting list.  A registration card and fee is required to hold a spot for the coming year.  All forms for the child’s folder are required within the month.

 

*March 29 – April 2                   Spring Vacation

 

April 7                              School closes at 1 p.m.

April 14                            Summer Fun Sign-ups begin on April 14th and end May 12th

Sign-ups begin on April 14th for currently enrolled families and April 21st for families enrolled for the 2010-11 school year.  The sign-up form and full tuition is due when signing up for Summer Fun.  These classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

                                                                                                            

April 22, 23                       Potluck Luncheons, 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

                                          Children’s Singing Program, 11:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  

All our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are invited to our annual Potluck Luncheons held in Faith Family Center.  Families bring a dish to share and enjoy each other’s company as well as the children’s songs of spring.  Theme baskets are raffled off and funds are used for the preschool.  The children come up to sing at 11:45 a.m. at the end of the luncheon. 

 

May 5                                 School closes at 1 p.m.

May 6, 7                             Mom’s Morning,  9 a.m – 10 a.m. preschool classes

                                                                         11 a.m. – 12 noon Two’s classes.

All our moms are invited to a fun-filled morning with their child in their child’s class.  Activities are planned as well as art and circle time for the moms and children

 

*May 31                            Memorial Day Holiday, school closed

 

June 2                                 School closes at 1 p.m.

June 3                              Exotic Animal Show,  11:15 a.m. – 12 noon

June 4                              Surprising Pet Show,  11:15 a.m. – 12 noon

Each 45 minute program is educational and entertaining!  Animals come to school in cages wrapped up like presents.  The animal comes out of the packages once the children guess what the animal is using clues and rhymes.  Each program shares 5 animals that children usually don’t get to see up close and personal.

 

June  5                                Pancake Breakfast, 8 – 10:00 a.m.

Families are invited to our annual Pancake Breakfast put on by the College Park Preschool Parent Group.  The playground is set up with tables and decorations and families enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast. 

 

June 9, 10                         Last Days of School

                                          Classroom End of Year Celebrations, 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

                                          School closes at 12 noon (NO AFTERCARE)

Families are invited to be a part of special parties and celebrations the last 30 minutes of the day in each of the classrooms.  June aftercare is due on the last day of school. A table is set up outside Mrs. Oliver’s office with fee statements.  Please pay by check.

 

*July 5                                Independence Day, school closed

 

July 6 – 29                          Summer Fun:  9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

                                           Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays  

Summer Fun is a four week program in July and is held each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Children who are 3 - 6 years by September 1st, 2010 and toilet-learned may register. Sign-ups begin on April 14th for currently enrolled families and April 21st for families enrolled for the 2010-11 school year.  The sign-up form and full tuition is due when signing up for Summer Fun.  These classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There is no refund for Summer Fun.
